Jesus Is the Answer” — A Journey to Faith at MBC

Ten years ago, a woman from China sat beside her brother as he lay on his deathbed. Moments before he passed, he gently squeezed her hand and whispered words that would stay with her forever: “Jesus is the answer.”

For the next decade, she searched for what those words truly meant. With a strong Buddhist background and no contact with Christians, her search for “the true religion” was quiet and persistent, guided only by a deep spiritual hunger.

Earlier this year, her search led her to type “Christian centre” into Google — and Muskoka Bible Centre appeared. She called, booked a campsite for Week 8 of Family Camp, and began preparing for the journey of her life.

Living in downtown Toronto without a car, she loaded her small electric scooter with a tent and supplies, placed her little dog Timothy in the front carrier, and set off for MBC — travelling the back roads for two full days to reach us.

She arrived on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Throughout the week, she attended every Bible teaching session, listening intently as God’s truth unfolded before her. On Thursday evening, she asked to meet with Jonathan and Gemma Griffiths, sharing her story and declaring that she now knew — Jesus truly is the answer. That night, she surrendered her life to Him.

The next morning, she came to chapel with Timothy at her side and wept through the entire service — tears of release, joy, and newfound faith. When I met with her afterward, her transformation was unmistakable. She radiated peace and gratitude.

We extended her stay so she could join our Worship Under the Stars service that weekend and continue growing in her new faith. Before she left, we helped prepare her scooter for the long journey home (she insisted on riding it back home) and connected her with a faithful pastor near her home in Toronto.

Her story is a remarkable reminder that God still draws hearts to Himself — sometimes through a whisper spoken a decade earlier, and sometimes through a two-day journey on a scooter, led by a woman and her little dog who were simply determined to find the truth.
