CCI UK RAISES THE PROFILE OF THE CHRISTIAN RESIDENTIAL EXPERIENCE

CCI UK and its members have a unique opportunity to raise the profile of the "Christian residential experience" at the Christian Resources Exhibition (CRE) in Esher, Surrey, in May 2008. With over 350 exhibition stands, CRE is one of the key events in the Christian diary in the UK.

There are a range of ways CCI UK members can benefit. These include ...

- Centres having their own stand at the exhibition or
- Combining with CCI at its stand and helping man the stand one day

CCI members will be providing an activity element for visitors including a climbing tower and other attractions. Seminars delivered by CCI members will offer a focus on the benefits of taking groups away, aimed specifically at Church leaders. A consultation area, manned by members of the CCI Council and Board, will provide a place to answer questions from the public. The area will include a rolling magazine presentation and a coffee facility.

CCI KOREA FOUNDING FATHER DIES IN AN ACCIDENT

It is with great sadness that we announce that one of the founding fathers of CCI Korea - Se Jin Oh - died two days ago in an accident. It appears he was working on his timber farm and died when some trees fell on him. He is survived by his wife and children.

Many CCI friends will remember Br. Oh from previous International Forums. He was a wonderful, gracious, godly and generous man. His wise counsel and quietly supportive manner has been a great encouragement to men and women involved in Christian camping ministry in Korea.

If you'd like to pass on a message of support to the family, please send your e-mail to Sakong, our English-speaking liason with CCI Korea. He will pass on your note to the family. Sakong's e-mail address is
camppower@hotmail.com

Praise God for Se Jin Oh's long and faithful ministry through CCI and his local church and that he is now with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

CCI PHILIPPINES TAKES THE NEXT STEP ... with a little help from some friends

At the second CCI Philippines Member's Forum, earlier this year, Jo Racaza was commissioned as CCI Philippines' first full-time National Director. Jo's appointment is
a strategic step in the process of growing the association, its services to members and communicating to the wider Filipino community the values and benefits of Christian camping.

CCI Australia's President (Ken Heffernan) and the association's CEO (Ken Pullen) were present at the CCIP Member's Forum, along with CCI's Asia Regional Representative, John Hooton. CCI Australia committed itself to partially funding Jo's remuneration over a three year period, with the funding reducing progressively over the three years.

To highlight the significance of this support, Jo Racaza wrote recently in the association's eCampfire (electronic) newsletter ... "what a big relief for our association
[to have this support] in this early stage of our developing ministry ... the diminishing funding means that our members will need to take increased financial responsibility [for the viability of the association]."

In recent communication, Jo indicated the interest of another 5-6 new campsites/ organisations in membership of CCI Philippines. Membership is slowly growing.

Earlier this year, the association launched its new website. Click here to visit the CCI Philippines website.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETS IN THE NETHERLANDS

Bethanie Conference Centre hosted the five days of meetings of CCI's interational Executive Committee and Regional Representatives from 8th to 12th May, 2007.
Present at the meeting were Lorimer Gray (Chairman), Jessica Breski (Administrator), Robert Bruneau, Gerhard Hobelman, Alexander Kharitonov, Ross Bay (Oceania Regional Representative), Dan DeGroat (North America/Russia/CIS Regional Representative),

The agenda was ambitious as the Committee and Representatives presented reports and followed up on all the matters referred to it by the 2006 Forum. Sigificant progress was made on the structure of the alliance.

Lorimer Gray will be writing to association leaders as soon as possible to brief them on the outcomes of the meeting.
